Photo By Nabin Baral Latchi Sherpa, 26, migrated to Tamakoshi river basin four years ago in search of work and for better education of her three daughters and one son. Her house is just 20m from the flow of Tamakoshi river. He has heard of the threat of the glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF) that can happen from Tsho Rolpa Glacial Lake. But she has no choice to live on the threat that is cause by climate change for which she not responsible. Latchi Sherpa represents thousands of Nepali who are living on the river basin of Tamakoshi River making their life vulnerable to Glacial Lake Outburst Flood( GLOF).
“Tsho Rolpa Glacial Lake: an example of potential threat behind the beautiful glacial lakes in the Rolwalling valley, Nepal. Tsho Rolpa is one of high priority potentially dangerous glacial lakes of Nepal Himalayas. As a result of climate change and fast retreating of glacier; the lake had increased from 0.23 square kilometer to 1.53 square kilometer in the last five decades (Mool et al. 2010, Press). The fast retreating glaciers and adjoining glacial lakes increasing the threats of glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF). Adaptation to climate Change: Water reserve pond in Pangling village of Nepal. Due to the global warming and climate change glaciers are melting fast and water source are drying out in high Himalaya. But the farmers of Pangling village has adapted to the effect of climate change by making water reserve pond. Every night water is collected in the two pond from a small stream and at the day time the water is released for irrigation and consumption for the village. 30 September 2012. Mustang Nepal.
