Nabin Baral is a freelance Editorial and Documentary photographer based in Kathmandu, Nepal. He worked at the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) as a Consultant Photographer and Photo Editor from 2009 to 2013. His photographic work focuses on the environment, mountains, people, and social issues. Before joining ICIMOD, he worked for three years as a Photography and Documentary Film Consultant for Friends Affected and Infected Together in Hand (FAITH) – a Kathmandu-based NGO working in the field of HIV/AIDS and Drugs. He has also worked as part-time faculty of photojournalism in various colleges in Kathmandu and is now visiting faculty of photojournalism for different colleges in Nepal. Nabin completed a Diploma in Photojournalism from the Konrad Adenauer Asian Center for Journalism at the Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines in 2013. Nabin tries to achieve a gender balance in his any photography and multimedia assignments. Nabin believes in the unique power of communication, persuasion, education and information that photo and multimedia story can perform in a society. Nabin was passionate about photography from 2002 and he started to work professionally as a photographer from 2007 when he was able to buy his first DSLR.
